In the heat of the night book summary3/27/2023 ![]() This book has all the right to be cancelled. And this is a true example of an abuser and his victim. Now I can understand how that dark part of him being so overprotective can be hot to someone but abuse is not hot and you have to remember that. ![]() Here are some of his red flags: he threatens his love interest Jasmine, he pushes her to do something she doesn’t want to, doesn’t respect when his partner tells him no (meaning non-consent), got vasectomy behind his partners back, abuses her physically AND emotionally, hits other women as well, probably killed someone, literally buys his partner and then proceeds to lock her up in his house, makes her do stuff she doesn’t want to, threatens to kill another man if she even looks at him and last but certainly not the least, is not very fond of foreplay. And people seem to go crazy for this Joe Goldberg x wannabe Christian Grey. If there was a book called Handbook of Red Flags in Partners, Roth would be a model example for every single one of those red flags. Goodreads ratings always seem to amaze me because although we all have our own opinions, it seems weird to me that only a few people (including me) found something very wrong with this. However, this book is so messy that the Book Gods are gonna be mad if I give it any extra stars. ![]() ![]() I never give books 1 stars, because as bad as they are, there is always a tiny sliver of good in them so they don’t deserve 1 star. Also, warning for bad language, I won’t even try to censor myself. Before I start this review, I must say that if you liked this book and you’re sensitive with someone trashing the book you like, this review is not for you. ![]()
